Assassin’s Creed III – Fan Artwork

Featured

I am a HUGE fan of the Assassin’s Creed series of video games – I love the genre and the gameplay, but most of all, I love the visual style of the games.  I’ve been playing the new installation for about a week and I’ve only got about 50% completion thus far. Almost every frame of the game is breathtaking …

Sketchbook – Van gogh Group 5

This is an old sketchbook from my days at RIT – this sketchbook was used in 97-98.  This particular sketchbook is my ‘Van gogh’ book because I have one of his paintings affixed to the cover.  I have a number of these to upload – but most of them are 60+ pages in size, so I’ll break them up into …

Ben Drolet spot illustration final

This was an illustration that shows a man falling asleep on another man who is a bit long winded while the writer of the article (the woman in the foreground) tries not to laugh.  I have to admit, they sent me an idea for this one and I just sketched out the idea without reading the article.  I usually read …

Shooting in the Studio

ben_drolet_photography_studio_lighting

When I worked as the Art Director for Stillen, we would take groups of vehicles to ‘the cove’ which was an infinity room at a small photo studio that was up the street from our offices.  An infinity room is simply a room where all the corners have been rounded out with plywood and plaster.  The idea is to make …

Steve Millen’s Cadillac

ben_drolet_vehicle_rendering_classic_cadillac

This is a rendering that I just found in an old work folder. I started this sketch years ago as a gift for Steve Millen “The All-Time Winningest Driver in IMSA GT History.” I was going to give it to him on his birthday, but I got busy and never finished it. I thought it was a shame to leave …

Dwayne Vance has an impressive body of work when it comes to vehicle rendering. Not only does he an incredible talent for drawing and painting, but he has a creative flair and style that make his sketches and finals all his own. On top of all his success, he still keeps his head on straight and continues moving forward. Spend …

Zoological & Botanical Illustration

Skull

Here are a few sketches and illustrations from a zoological class and a botanical class that I took at RIT. Most of these were drawn from life, even the dionsaur (from an exibit at the Rochester Zoo).  The ‘Elephant’ illustration was purchased and used by the Rochester zoo for its African elephant exibit.

The Make A Wish Foundation approached a few of us game developers and asked us if we would fulfill a wish for Ryan C. – “He wants to be a video game designer”. So we got together with him and listened to his ideas. He wanted a game where monkeys throw poo – how could we turn him down? Here …

Ben Drolet Cover Painting Illustration Masthead

This is the current issue of BSTQ cover illustration.  The idea that they wanted to get across was that many medical innovations never actually see their way to completion but run out of steam before the end. The original idea they brought to me was to have 7 or 8 diseases ‘racing’ to a finish line.  Each of them would …
